I'm not getting a GPS locked indication (green light) and having trouble acquiring satellites.
what can I do to fix this ?

Usually, getting a (stable) GPS fix indoor should not be expected. A GPS fix can still happen in the house, but it heavily depends on the timing and location. A place near the window has bigger chance.
Connecting an external GPS antenna could help, probably thanks to:
- bigger antenna size, and
- the flexibility to adjust angle during usage, and
- keep away from sources of interference from the device itself
