Brand new out of the box Witty Pi 5 on known good cables and bench top power supplies via USB-C and VIN will not do anything: no leds come on, no power to a pi connected, no nothing.
I am stumped. Is there some kind of master reset or some kind of force boot? I think it is DOA.
Any ideas or tips on how to get it working or a working unit?
You may connect Witty Pi 5 to your PC via a USB-C cable, and check if the "Witty Pi 5" USB drive is still accessible.
If the "Witty Pi 5" USB drive doesn't show up, then the FAT filesystem may be corrupted, and the issue may be the same as this one or this one.
We fixed a bug that could potentially cause this issue in firmware v1.3:
https://github.com/uugear/Witty-Pi-5-Firmware/releases/tag/v1.3
On that page you can also find the instructions of how to recover the device, if the FAT filesystem is corrupted.
When I connect the Witty Pi 5 to my computer with the BOOTSEL pushed down (holding it down while I connect it) nothing appears on my computer - there is no drive.
So I cannot do steps 1 and 2 of the linked instructions. This is why I think the device is somehow DOA, it simply does nothing.
It does nothing on USB-C, 6V, 12V, BOOTSEL, nothing...
Thanks!
@nathan If you have tried different USB cables, tried connecting it with and without holding the BOOTSEL button, and the device does absolutely nothing, then the device seems dead. However I can not confirm if it is DOA, because I have no idea what it has been through.
