According manual for Wittypi4 mini there is unpopulated header for VIN + GND+ 5V. When I put 5V and GND to pins board boots fine. When I apply to VIN and GND nothing happens but in manual I read: `Witty Pi 4 Mini has solder pads on the back, which allow you to solder a DC/DC converter (LDO or switching DC/DC converter) there.` Which converters are suggested please? Thanks.
That unpopulated footprint matches LM29150, which is an LDO that can output up to 1.5A current.
However as LDO, its efficiency is poor, and it is only acceptable when you are using 6V battery as power source. The efficiency drops quickly when you increase the voltage.
For higher input voltage, switching DC/DC is preferred.
The VIN-GND-VOUT pads can be used to integrate with an LDO or switching DC/DC.
@admin Thanks for the info. I need on VIN 12V so I prefer to use DC/DC converter. But in this case it won't easily fit to the existing board right? Thanks.
@marekb Those are just three copper pads, and you can solder wires on them. The DC/DC converter is not necessarily to be soldered on the back of the board.
